ACE is a free 12-week community-based exercise program designed specifically for individuals undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment. ACE exercise instructors have received cancer-specific education and training.
The Alberta Cancer Exercise (ACE) Program is part of a study evaluating the benefit of Alberta-based community exercise programs for cancer survivors. The primary goal of ACE is to help individuals who are currently receiving cancer treatment, or who have completed treatment within the last 3 years, adopt an active lifestyle. The program will be implemented in community-based exercise facilities across Alberta from 2016-2021.
To be eligible for this study you must:
-Be pre-cancer treatment, currently receiving treatment, on active surveillance, or within 3 years of treatment completion (or have persisting cancer related issues is >3 years)
-Be able to participate in low to moderate physical activity
-Be 18+ years old and able to consent in English
Medicine Hat programs are now provided through the Excel Study.
